Product Description NBA LIVE 09 is back. It rewrites the book on authenticity and connectivity - but is still accessible enough for new users. Dynamic DNA emulates - with absolute precision - an NBA player in every sense of the word. NBA LIVE 365 takes the statistical data of Dynamic DNA and brings it to life. Just like the real NBA game, players get injured, free agents sign late, great players go cold and no-names break through.
Player DNA Progression - see the progress and changes to any player's DNA after an NBA LIVE 365 update Player Tendencies - the percentage a player drives left, right or shoots from each spot on the floor Lockdown Control - risk reward system FIBA Expanded - compete in an international tournament using authentic FIBA rosters and a choice of 24 teams Pick and Roll Control - control both the ball handler and the screener 5 vs. 5 Online Team Play - All 10 players on the court can now be controlled by users on 10 different consoles around the world Signature Playcalling - pushes on-court visualization to guide you through the play Online Leagues 2.0 - Create your own league with drafting, trades and a custom playoff format NBA Academy - hone your skills Create your own highlight reel then upload it to EA SPORTS World Quickstrike AnkleBreakers - Force your defender to step up and guess what you'll do next On the cover - Tony Parker - In his 7 NBA seasons, the 26 year old is a two-time NBA All-Star, has 3 NBA championships and was named the 2007 NBA Finals MVP

Gameplay just sucks. December 28, 2008 Matt Bateman (Somewhere else) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
For all of the improvements that this series has made in terms of graphics and online features, it seems as if the gameplay gets worse every year. I can't comment on Live 08 because I didn't even bother with it last year, but it seems like the last decent Live game was probably 05 or 06. The player movement is terrible. When you change directions while dribbling there seems to be a lag before your player actually turns, resulting in some very frustrating situations. I used to use the right analog stick to pull off behind the back dribbles and fastbreak spin moves, but now the only spin move you can do is off a post-up, and the behind the back dribble seems to be missing altogether. The addition of a stutter step and hesitation dribble are nice, but they're useless because half the time they don't work and even when they do the defense will move twice as fast as your player and cut him off anyway. What really frustrates me is that there is no difference in athleticism amongst the players. I remember on the old Live games back in the 90's that guys had jumping ratings that controlled how high they jumped. Jordan could fly up to grab a rebound while stiffs like Greg Ostertag were planted to the floor. In Live 09 I tried to block a shot with Jamario Moon but he barely got any lift. It doesn't matter if you have Dwight Howard or Zydrunas Ilgauskas, it seems like every player gets about 2 inches off the floor. This leads me to another complaint which is that blocking shots is all about luck, not timing or position. If you run out on a jump shooter your player will actually hesitate before jumping, which results in a goofy looking move in which he jumps for the block after the shooter has already released and landed. There is still a glitch that causes players to step inbounds before passing the ball in after a basket, and the cutscenes during timeouts and free-throws look blurry. I've played this on 3 different TV's and all 3 of them gave off a weird effect that makes each player look like he has a "ghost face" floating in front of his regular face. On top of that, if you're playing on anything other than a high def TV with at least a 32" screen you're going to have trouble reading the score and the clock because they are really small. Overall the only fun I had with this game was playing against some friends and family at Christmas. As for any serious gaming, I'll stick to the 2K series from now on.
365 doesn't make up for sorry gameplay December 25, 2008 P. Branch (misawa ab, japan) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
the last live i played that was any good was 2005. i thought that since this was 09 and it has the 365 and all that hype i heard that this would've been a good buy. it is not, the 365 is cool but the gameplay to me is absolutely terrible. there is no rhythm at all with the players. the shots look like shots taken by girls from the wbna. the ball seems to just be thrown at the hoop rather than shot and fade aways look like the players are drunk with legs flying up in the air. thats not how it's supposed to look. live 05 is still the best in my book.
Better than before, but not by much December 23, 2008 Sean (Orange County, CA) NBA LIVE has a better playcalling system, drops down on the break really easy that's my favorite new edition, outside of LIVE 365. But LIVE 365 has a dark shadow across it, because the gameplay is still not up to par with NBA 2K9, not even close guys. This game is easy as pie to pick up and play. Online is pure garbage still straight dunking, but the connection is great and the game lobbies are great. The pick and roll mechanic is nice. The cut scenes are really nice, the menus are great, the game modes are nice, but the graphics stink, and the player animations are terrible, so unatural, players move liek drunk sailors trying to dance at a disco. Defending the dunk is near impossible to defend. NBA 2k9 wins easily as the bball game of the year, this is the first time I crossed to 2K9, NBA LIVE gets a 6/10 from me. NBA 2K9 is maybe the best bball game ever a 9/10, only thing 2k9 lacks is game lobbies.
Very happy with Live 09 November 24, 2008 RexB (Fremont, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Very happy with Live 09. I liked the DNA feature and the 365 updates. Rosters, line-ups get updated daily.(but i read that ratings were not, have to check if that was addressed by the recently released patch) I liked the graphics more and the gameplay is improved. My co-worker got it too and we've played a bunch of very good online games already. Online game is easy virtually no lag at all (PS3 using wireless connection) and it is easy to find someone you can play against. The pick-in-roll control is very nice feature and a lot of plays for both offense and defense. I liked the signature moves and are different from each players (ie. Tony Parker floater is different from CP3's). Overall, i'm very happy and satisfied with this game. My only gripe is that the game is still in 720p not 1080p but still looks great on my 52" HDTV.
Better than expected November 23, 2008 S. Thomas 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The last NBA live i bought was 06 for xbox. The last few ive rented but have not been impressed, so therfore held off on purchasing any. This year i felt i HAD to get an update and am pleased to announce they have finally moved forward instead of backwards. Ive gone w/ the ps3 version this time because i never got a 360, but the online mode and new DNA seem to be alright. NEVERTHELESS, if your like me and have been holding off the last few years, you wont be disappointed by this years incarnation of Live.
