NFL GameDay 2003 features arcade-style gameplay that translates into monstrous hits and legendary plays. New gameplay features allow offensive players to break tackles, stiff-arm defenders, or dive over the pile of would-be tacklers for the winning touchdown. Updated Total Control Passing allows quarterbacks to under-throw receivers or lead them in any direction by simply pressing the directional pad, letting receivers make spectacular one-handed catches while tight-roping down the sidelines. Players can get a workout in Training Camp mode, take on all comers in exhibition or season modes, or strap on the helmet for multiple seasons as coach, player, and general manager in the General Manager mode.

3 out of 5 stars It is good, when standing alone.   March 13, 2003

I would greatly suggest this game to anyone I know. Definetly one of the best Football Games in the world, and I've played them all. You probably are wondering by now 'why the 3 stars then?' This is because, since I have played nearly all football games, I have seen this games master. I'm talking about nothing else, but NFL Madden 2003. Sure, the intro for Gameday is hella tight, and almost makes buying the game worth it. But, when compared to the almightly Madden, this game is nothing. This game is simpler, yet with much fewer choices. If you have this game, Warning: DON'T PLAY MADDEN OR YOU'LL NEVER HAVE FUN WITH GAMEDAY AGAIN! BE HAPPY WITH YOUR GAME AND LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!

4 out of 5 stars Personal Favorite   January 22, 2003
I do not play alot of football games, but this one is best of all. Good graphics, online capability, nice play setup, and, best of all, you can tackle the refs. I gave it 4 because it could have been better, but then again so could most games.

3 out of 5 stars Missing Realism Components takes away from the game   December 27, 2002

I have been a fan of the gameday series ever since I got my first PS1 and Gameday 99. Now, with Gameday 2003, the content of the game is remarkable. There is no doubt in my mind that it is a very fun and exciting game. However, even little details are noticeable and may take away from the game if you're a big buff football fan/player (like me!). Though it is true the CPU AI is at its best, there are still a few little things that make it kinda dull:
- CPU does not down the ball on a kickoff when the ball is kicked deep into its endzone.
- The fair catch feature sucks.
- The reaction time i think is slower than some previous gameday games.
- Like every gameday game, there is still a pass-happy cpu, which makes it difficult to get a high ranking on pass defense, but an incredible first place rank against the run.
- Worst of all, I think (like in madden) there should've been a challenged feature. I mean I replay my plays and see calls that should not have been made and there's nothing i can do about it.
- I have gone a whole season and more than a half, and still have not had any injuries nor penalties (and they are on high), which i'll take but it takes away from the realism of the game. The only penalties I've had were pass interference, and offsides. and once in every like million (exaggerating) they'll be a personal foul call. As for the injuries, the only time they happen is when you work your OFFENSIVE player WHO HAS THE BALL to hard. I have had no defensive injuries except when i recover the ball and run and then once in a while a hamstring pull will come up.

Despite this, the game is good. I think for next year though, they should incorporate more realism into the game.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but could of been better   October 9, 2002

This game is a pretty good football game for the Ps2 overall, but needs improvement in some areas. The grafics could of been a lot better, especially on Ps2, but that is the biggest downfall. It has plenty of options, besides not having a franchise mode. You can choose from all the stadiums to play in, as well as all the old ones too. The playbook looks better than Madden 2003's, and you have good control in this game. I would reccomend this game for the lower price, but if you want great grafics go for Nfl 2k3.

3 out of 5 stars More hype than anything else   September 9, 2002

I have just turned in my dreamcast for the PS2 and am also an owner of the PS1. I was excited when I first heard of this and have always been a fan of the Gameday series. However, I was very disappointed in this game compared to Gameday versions on the PS1 and the NFL2k series for the dreamcast. The play was sloppy and the graffics have taken a turn for the worst. Choosing plays make it more difficult because you can only tell what a play is if you have it in the middle of the screen. The anouncers are a plus as well as the opening of the game. Other than that, it just doesn't live up to the hype and the PS1 versions are better.
