Product Description Street Hoops is an "in your face" street-style basketball game that captures the aggressive energy and attitude of blacktop competition. The game lets you compete in a nationwide tournament representing your hometown on the most notorious street courts in the nation. Choose from a roster of athletes and performers, including key players that were featured in the And 1 Mix Tapes and Nike's "Freestyle" commercial series. The game features real world locations where you can compete on 10 of the most revered street courts in America, including NYC's West 4th Street, a.k.a. "The Cage", L.A.'s Venice Beach Courts, Oakland's Mosswood Playground, Philadelphia's Lombard Court, Chicago's Jackson Park, NYC's Rucker Park, Atlanta's Run n' Shoot and New Orleans' Shakespeare Park. You get ultra-realistic courts; designers ensured that each court is an exact replica of the real blacktop basketball court right down to the graffiti, quality of the court and culture of the neighborhood. Choose from three awesome modes of play; defend your home turf in King of the Court, take it to the road in World Tournament or hone their skills with Pick-Up Game. The multiplayer exhibition-style pick-up game can be played on a full court or a half court, with gamers playing head-to-head or on the same team. You can initially choose from 9 different teams or they can build their own unique, customized "ballers." In addition, you can play one-on-one to five-on-five and anything in between.
Amazon.com Review Street Hoops is like the kid who shows up on the first day of school decked out in brand-new, brand-name duds, trying really hard to be cool and laid-back, while his rival (in this case, NBA Street) effortlessly oozes hip, relaxed charm. It's not that it's a bad game--it's that it could be so much more, if only it wasn't trying so hard, and in the most shallow ways. Everything about Hoops is overly complicated, with no real payoff. The players can be personalized and stylized--you get to pick haircuts, jewelry, tattoos, and clothing. But instead of being a cherry on top of an otherwise great game, this decoration is in some ways more interesting than the actual court time. This issue of mixed-up priorities really takes root in the mechanics of the game. Considering there's no tutorial, the overly designed controller configuration gets in the way of just starting up and playing the game for the fun of it. In another example, unless you assign controllers to teams in the opening menu, the game mysteriously starts playing itself. The music is great, with songs by mainstream hip-hop artists. But the abundance of tie-in deals seems like overcompensation for poor play. Hoops sometimes feels like a catalog, heavy with ads for clothing, sneakers, and sunglasses. In a spectacular example of the obtrusiveness of this co-branding, gamers can get cheats by buying real-world Sprite (vending machines for the soda are also littered throughout the game maps). Still, there's a fair amount to recommend Hoops--mainly the presence of real-life street ballers. The opening cinematic of inspired tricking makes you want to invest the time to make this game pay off. Anyone who just wants to play a little ball with their friends--a pickup game instead of a tournament--would be better off looking to the unmatched NBA Street. --Jennifer Hauseman Pros: - Options like taunt and intentional foul evoke true baller bravado
- Hip-hop soundtrack includes "Da Rockwilder" (Method Man and Redman), "Who We Be" (DMX), "Make Em Say Ugh" (Master P), and "Rollout" (Ludacris)
Cons: - More development time was spent on partnership deals than gameplay
Amazon.com Product Description Street Hoops is a gritty, street-style basketball game that encompasses the look, speed, energy, and attitude of park and playground blacktop competition. The game allows players to represent their hometowns in a nationwide tournament on the most notorious street courts in the nation. Players can choose from a roster of athletes and performers, including key athletes made famous by the And 1 mix tapes and Nike's Freestyle commercial series. Realism is the rule. Players are allowed to bet cash on competitions and buy authentic real-world gear--including Sean John, Ecko Unlimited, Southpole, and Pure Playaz--with their cash. On the court, you can talk trash, shout, and throw an elbow, if need be. The game features multiple modes of play, including World Tournament, King of the Court, Multiplayer vs., and Half-Court. Street Hoops offers a wide variety of real freestyle basketball moves and a hip-hop soundtrack.

THE WORST GAME I EVER PLAYED! March 12, 2004 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Now, Im not saying I hate Streetball, but this game makes Streetball look like Sesame-Ball. I bought this game last year for fun, but this game is bull. I wish I bought NBA LIVE 2003! Street hoops doesn't let you create teams and is too easy. I was the Knights and I crushed Baltimore and they had Lil Romeo, all my players were at 50 just to give a challenge and I won 51-0! Its impossible to block but so easy to steal. The movies are pretty good. After a while though, the music in the back gets dumb. I used to be addicted to "Roll-out" but now im not. Seriously, you can bet on games on how many points you can win, but its dumb. Some features I like for example: buying your clothes and bling bling. Haircuts look so fake, doesn't even sway one bit. It's stuck to their heads. I RECOMMEND, SAVE YOUR MONEY

This game is really awesome! The graphics are great, gamestyles are awespme. The game styles include 3 on 3, World Tournament and many others. Also you can unlock different parks and players as you go along(Rucker Park and Hot Sauce) Another good part about this game is that you can buy your team new haircuts, jewlery, clothes, tatoos with the money you win if you bet on your game. All in All this game rocks!

THIS GAME IS FOR G.O.A.T ! ! ! December 25, 2003 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
First of all is for the (G)reatest (O)f (A)ll (T)ime players. This game is so ghetto and challenging, it will keep you playing for hours and hours. You will get bored after you played too much because it is true that they spent more time on partnerships(etc) than in gameplay. you could tell.. Compare to NBAStreets (vol. 2), S. Hoops is more ghettoer. ofcourse.. but the gamplay in S.H. is not that realistic than NBA.S .The player's trick moves is quite fast, sometimes you can't really tell what moves they're doing And that hurts the game alot becasue the thing that makes the game more ghettoerer is those street gangsta moves especially :Hotsauce! ANothER cool stuff in the game is those Stores where you can get a haircut, tatoo, chains, watches goldz, shoes, shirts/jerseys, short/pants, glasses, bands, hats, etc... PLUS you can make bet with your money on a catagories you're really good at. I mostly put on all of them because I'm a GOAT. This game is fun to play (...)BR>I recomend this game to all who loves basketball, well Ghetto basketball plus you can check out videos from the street gangstaz i said earlier. Man, they sure got skills. For those people who saw the AND1 Tour, you know what I'm talking about...
The Best Basketball Game November 29, 2003 kvolleyplaya9 (Cape Cod,MA) Im a 13 year old girl, this game is not only for boys but for girls too. This game is the best b-ball game that i have played. The controls take time to learn but so does the moves in real life. Once you learn the moves its so cool. Ive almost beaten the world tournament((that just shows that its not imposible like some people say))The games are very relistic, people yelling,no blood no foul, anouncers, and where the games take place are very much like the the real thing. The music sound tracks are not stupid songs, they have people like DMX,Ludacris,Master P and many more. You can bet,buy cloths, chains, tatoos, get a new hair cut. This is the best basketball game its really worth the money!!!
