5 out of 5 stars Great Game and superior guitar to Rock Band 1   January 7, 2009
Spargmister (Boston, MA USA)
I bought the entire rock band 1 bundle, great game and instruments. So I bought the new guitar and RB2 game. The new guitar looks cooler and is able to sink up to a TV better (which is very necessary with HD TVs). Although I've heard the Guitar hero guitar works well with RB2, so that may be worth a try.

5 out of 5 stars Everyone shoud get this.   December 24, 2008

If you own Rockband 2 for ps3 and you only have one guitar, then you should buy this for multiple reasons. First, the controller in my option is far better than any 3rd party rockband controller. Secondly, the batteery life is great!!! I've play this game almost everyday since launch and I've yet not replaced the batteries.

Plus if you get a 2nd controller you can play the game with more friends... What's better than that???

4 out of 5 stars Had a problem, but it's all better now.   December 16, 2008

The standalone guitar that I received malfunctioned at first. I contacted the manufacturer, though, and was able to get a free replacement. It took a bit of time, but the replacement looks good and works perfectly. The manufacturer's website is very user-friendly and the process was pretty simple to get a replacement without too much hassle.
Of course, my rating would be higher had I received a working product in the first place. =)

5 out of 5 stars Great Guitar   November 30, 2008

The Guitar is very touchy, I kind a like that. I play Rock Band on a plasma TV and did not find that the automatic lag setter worked all that well for me. But, I did use it. I kept setting the lag using the auto lag. Every time it would come up with different numbers, both for the video and audio. Each time I would write them down, after several times I took and averaged them out. "It's on the nut now", best it's ever been... Cool!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic looking and feeling guitar   October 25, 2008

I have been a long time Guitar Hero (GH) player. And after playing Rock Band 1 a few months ago, I found it fun but hard to strum the notes as easily as I can with GH.

Recently I was playing the new Rock Band 2 (RB2) guitar at my local electronics store and fell in love with the wood burst body and wood paneled neck. So I placed my pre-order and received it today....

I am in love. I love the sturdy and non-clicky strum bar (I HATED the "click-click" sound of the GH strum). The frets give off some noise but not that bad. They feel good but are harder to keep your place as easily as GH. The feel of the guitar is nice and feels like quality in your lap or hanging from your shoulder. The nice sleek lines of the guitar is even nicer to look at when you're not playing. The whammy is nearly identical to the whammy bar of GH but a bit longer. The start button is nicely recessed and the PS3 button and connect button are nicely designed.

I was really relieved to see that the standalone RB2 guitar is in fact the wood burst body design and NOT the black RB2 guitar that is included in the RB2 bundle. I am extremely pleased and I have officially crossed over from GH to RB. The guitar looks like a real Fender Strat and after owning this guitar, GH guitars look like cheap 5-year old toys.
