Graphics for 2008 are disappointing but game was fun January 5, 2009 R. Schroeder 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For a game released in 2008 the graphics are rather disappointing. The graphics look like they are from 2002, but don't let that dissuade you from playing the game. It is still fun. The graphics improve when there are a lot of buildings rather than trees ect,. The game play style is like Call of Duty 3 as far as health is concerned, but without the hand to hand combat modes and fuse setting of bombs. It sounds like one of the characters were voiced by Keifer Sutherland. I don't know if I should have spent the $35.00 on it like I did, but if you find it used for $20.00 or less it would be a good buy. I would rate it at 75%.
Disappointing January 2, 2009 N. Durham (Philadelphia, PA) Call of Duty makes a return to the PS2 with Call of Duty: World at War Final Fronts; a stripped down conversion of the great World War II FPS. Sadly, Final Fronts doesn't do nearly enough to distinguish itself from older Call of Duty games, and hardly bears any resemblance at all to the other versions of World at War. Any of the gameplay innovations to come into the series from last year's Call of Duty 4 and the other versions of World at War are absent here, leaving this PS2 version playing more like an expansion pack to the PS2 versions of Call of Duty 2 and 3. Combine that with the muddy graphics engine and some just plain brain-dead enemy AI, and Final Fronts just ends up being a complete bore. I know the PS2 is getting on in age, but it is much more capable of performing better than what this game suggests. If you're still holding on to your PS2 than this watered down version of World at War is worth a look, but if you're a big time Call of Duty fan, the time to upgrade to a more powerful console is definitely now.
Finally a game about the Pacific Theater November 27, 2008 Matthew J. Pichler (York, PA USA) 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
If you like fun war games and are tired of fighting the Germans all the time this game is great. I think most people forget there was just as much if not more fighting in the Pacific. Do not listen to all those game geeks the graphics are great for PS2. The best part is it is accurate in its history. It is also rated Teen which means kids can play it not just big kids if you know what I mean. I would like to see the game companies allow parents to turn the language off on some of these Mature games. This is a great Christmas gift to get kids who are 10 and above. Have fun.
