Product Description
The action-adventure game features LarryBoy, the popular plunger-headed crime-fighting cucumber featured in several best-selling videos, in his quest to save the citizens of Bumblyburg from temptation. When trouble appears, the citizens of Bumblyburg call world-famous crime fighter LarryBoy! Aided only by his trusted butler Alfred (played with zest by Archibald Asparagus), LarryBoy is everything that his alter-ego Larry the Cucumber is not: bold... confident... relentlessly driven... brazenly heroic! Well, actually, that's not entirely true. While he tries to create this impression, inside, LarryBoy is still plain-old Larry. LarryBoy attempts to save the day with clever use of his super-suction ears and the many features of the Larry-Mobile. Call him a kinder, gentler, slightly slower superhero!

2 out of 5 stars Two stars because it's Larryboy, but that's about it.   July 26, 2008

Graphics are ok, nothing great. Game is boring and frustrating at times. Very mundane, a lot of "grabbing musical notes". After you have played this game for about 15 minutes, you will never want to hear Alfred's voice again. I would not buy this game again.

2 out of 5 stars Fun, but poor quality   October 27, 2007

My 9-year-old likes this game alot. Our complaint, though, is in the quality of the disk. The game freezes at a particular point. Veggietales gladly replaced the disk, but the 2nd one also freezes at the same point. I have called Crave Entertainment several times over the last 2 weeks to see if it's our equipment. I get a message saying "Sorry our game isn't working, we'll call you back." But so far they haven't called back-the implication being that they have alot of games that don't work! I would return it and get my money back, but my son says it's fun up to that point, and he wants to keep it. I rated it 4 stars for fun, because it is frustrating when the game freezes.

My child loves playing this game and I like him playing it. He has fun, and doesn't think he is learning anything but talks about what he has learned. I love it. I would like more games by VeggieTales for him.

5 out of 5 stars My 2nd grade boy really enjoys this game   February 19, 2007

My 2nd grade boy really enjoys this game. I like to watch him play it because the graphics are colorful and pleasing on the eyes. My only complaint is that, when Larry "dies," sometimes you get sent back quite a ways in the game. That became less of an issue as my son got better at the game control, but frustrating at first. The game was better than I expected it to be.

2 out of 5 stars I love LarryBoy, but this is sloppy game design   January 23, 2007

I love LarryBoy and VeggieTales. My son received this game from his grandmother for Christmas. He is a pretty good gamer, however, he regularly needs me to help him complete a level. Moreover it often takes me, an avid gamer, multiple tries to complete the level because LarryBoy falls off of platforms for no reason at all. The control is soft and very inexact - making what should be a basic platformer unbalanced and at times overly difficult. Also, the camera regularly lags behind the action or gives insufficent views of what is happening (such as jumps you are to take or platforms you are to mount).

Finally, on a personal note, I am disappointed by the graphics - which would look excellent on the PS1, but now, at the end of the PS2's lifecycle, we have all come to expect more. I'm especially shocked that a computer animation company wouldn't demand the graphics of this game be closer to the quality of visuals on their computer generated videos.

The bottom line is that my son is still enjoying this game and is still a LarryBoy and VeggieTales fan, but many a young gamer will be unable to play this game entirely by themselves (or without massive frusteration) simply because of sloppy game design.
