Product Description In Resident Evil 4 you'll know a new type of horror, as the classic survival-horror action returns with all-new characters, controls and storylines. We last saw Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil 2 - a rookie cop in Raccoon City, fighting to stay alive. That was six years ago. Since then, government forces have managed to control the zombie threat and Leon has become a Federal agent. When the President's daughter is kidnapped, Leon tracks her to a remote, hidden fortress in Europe - where he'll relive the horror he faced six years before. Players will face never-before-seen enemies that make Nemesis seem like a kitten. You'll be wishing for the usual Resident Evil zombies!

Made Me Hate Video Games Again January 6, 2009 Jane Caroll (New York, NY) Okay, so I got this gem for Christmas - apparently, it had "rave reviews". Apparently, this is one of those stupid games they used to create so everyone other than the uebergeek gamers would go out and buy the "Strategy Guide". It's just really freakin' boring - apparently I'm supposed to gather "treasures" to earn money to buy upgrades to crappy weapons that offer zero control. And whenever there's any major action, you basically have to die - either that or be 8 years old and be able to hit the exact key combo that appears on screen for a split second. And so you die - but HEY, the game allows you to CONTINUE. Why? I guess so you can memorize the stupid controller buttons. LAME! It's just ganked and stupid and pretty much everything I hate about video games. After wasting 4 hours of my life on this "Game of the Year", I'm probably gonna go shelve my PS2 again for another 2 years. I want those 4 hours back - but oh well... got suckered again. At some point, I'm guessing the industry will start hiring real writers to infuse plot into these trainwrecks - but until then, they damn well better allow me to actually control my "interaction" to some extent. Plus, given they ripped the stupid annoying "telecom" bit from Metal Gear Solid - where some "sexy girl" checks in on your progress and tells you what to do next - they should have ported over the diazepam along with it. Then maybe the Leon character could steady his hand long enough to shoot a crow sitting on a tree branch. Took me FIVE shots to shoot one of those things until I got within 10 feet of it. Pathetic, stupid, boring - and when the first major weapon upgrade is an automatic pistol that just shoots off tons of rounds of bullets that only bounce off the enemy with absolutely NO more control... That's when it went back in the box. So hey, if ya love the game, I'm guessing Britney Spears rocks your free world, too. But I've got better things to do in my spare time.

DONT BE AFRAID December 24, 2008 R. Arrington (Somewhere) There are many questions one has when buying a ported game. Is it graphically equal? Has anything been changed? Does it have any extra content? Is it worth my money? Well, let me assure you that Resident Evil 4 for the PS2 is just as good if not better than its Gamecube counterpart. Graphically, the PS2 version looks nearly identical, with every effect and texture appearing the same as the Nintendo version. Loads of new extra content such as new Mini-Campaigns, costumes and unlockable weapons keep the adventure going for a few extra hours on your PS2. Those new to the game may ask, "what about the gameplay?" Well, if you've heard of (Gears of War) or (Deadspace) than you may be suprised to know that the lovely (over the shoulder cam) stlye of those and most games developed today was introduced by Resident Evil 4. So basically, it's you and some mean/customizable weaponry against hordes of zombies to rescue the Presidents daughter. Survive in a Spanish village, spend a night in a midevil castle and fight your way through an island fortress. Solve straightfoward but not too easy puzzles. Though there are mulitple versions of this game now, if you're looking for that perfect balance of graphics/gameplay/length/replayability/extra content/entertainment value and your moneys worth of it, than Resident Evil 4 for the Playstation 2 is the greatest version of all and the only one for you.
original RE fans avert your eyes!!! December 18, 2008 4n6freak (california fresno usa) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
first of all let me just say that this has the title of a resident evil game, but its nothing like its predecessors. instead of the odd, and sometimes retarded camera angles this game features a different over the shoulder type camera angle. And instead of being an actual survival horror game like the originals this is more of an action/adventure type of game. the storyline is decent and has alot of twists and turns between beginning and end. speaking of beginning and end this is a very long game and will keep you playing for hours. another part of the gameplay is protecting and sometimes playing as Ashley leon's charge, protecting ashley may wear and tear on players after a while but her character A.I. isn't as horrible as some other games so it may not be the biggest highlight of the game but it is a necessary part because it helps to advance the story and enhance the complexity of the gameplay. and there are some very good voice over acting within the game and the graphics and character animations are amazing!!! Plus it has a lot of replay value with different costumes you can wear and different difficulty levels you can play. There are also some fun collectibles you can obtain, weapons, weapon upgrades, and fun mini games.you can also unlock a separate side story featuring another side character that i wont mention here and some other characters that you can unlock. hardcore resident evil fans may not be happy with the latest installment i have to give this game a five out of five because of its innovative gameplay, incredible voice acting, its replayibility, and the story that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and keep you playing all not long.
Lame Story, Terrible Play Action December 10, 2008 C. Lambeth (Portland, Oregon) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was originally pretty excited to play RE 4. I'd never ventured into the horror / escape genre before, but so many people raved about the earlier editions that I thought I'd give this one a try. First of all, I freely admit that I am not an extremely devoted gamer. I have a lot of things going on in life and can't devote hours and hours at a time to the diversion (unfortunately). That being said, it only took about 15 minutes of play to realize that this game is ridiculously difficult. I don't necessarily mind difficulty, but the character himself (Leon) fights like Gumby or a gingerbread man, and this was very frustrating. He can only lamely and clumsily slash a knife in the air and shoot a wimpy handgun that he can't aim for garbage. There is no way to lock-on to targets like in other games, so you have to manually point the weapon. Even then, it only works at close range. Additionally, he can't duck, jump, punch, kick or do anything unless the game prompts him to. All the while, enemies can deftly pitchfork, stab, grab and bite at will. Admittedly, as the game progresses, Leon can upgrade to some better guns, but there's no way to improve his knife or pathetic combat skills. And he is ALWAYS running out of ammo, and forced to feebly swat with that knife. I can't count how many times I thought to myself, "This is so stupid." And the story itself is a disaster. The US President's daughter has been kidnapped and all they can send is this one wimpy "fighter" who has a 9mm pistol with a few clips and a survival knife that he barley knows how to use? I could have tolerated the poor story if the game play compensated for it. As it was, I was just frustrated. Ultimately, I lost interest in the game and moved on to something that was more fun to engage. I recommend skipping this one.
Thanks for reading, -CL
