2 out of 5 stars Wonderful, if you are an 11 year old girl.   January 5, 2009

I am female and purchased this game because I liked Final Fantasy X so much. This, however, is a very lame follow up. The fighting controls are very different and you have to fight fiends with song and dance. The story is very poor in comparison to X, and the entire game just feels half baked and childish.

Passing this game up should be a...Sin. ;) honestly, great game and it concludes the final fantasy X story. The story line is great, the dresspheres are rather different than the typical "job" category, and the overall fun that comes with the game is hard to beat. Definitely one of my all time favorite games.

3 out of 5 stars Good, Clean, but easy!   December 28, 2008

I was superfluously intrigued by the commercials advertising Final Fantasy X-2! I just had to have a game with woman as the lead role.

I got the game on Christmas day; and was furious at the game play, and the difficulty- due to my lack of experience with any Final Fantasy game.
When I got a little better, and beat the game.........I only had about 40 percent complete. Due to the non-linear game style, I was stuck on some levels of the game; was continuously dying, confused about what to do next, where to go etc.

Final Fantasy X-2 is set two years after its predecessor; with that, adapting new game play, and new characters. Yuna joins the Gullwings, after her cousin, Rikku- who is now a sphere hunter, finds a Sphere with a mysterious boy who could be "Him". "Him"- or the infamously annoying "You-know-who"- refers to Tidus, due to the nature of Final Fantasy X, where you can change Tidus' name at the start of the game. This mysterious sphere sends Yuna on an adventure away from her calm life.

Paine, who is new to the game, is a character who alienates herself from the group, and has some pretty keen remarks. These remarks are- at first laughable- however, her character becomes tedious, and a repetitive dark character who defects from her dark nature. Thus Paine becomes a loveable character.

Brother, who flies the Gullwings airship, is the......brother of Rikku. His role in the game becomes tiresome, repetitive and just downright annoying. His secret crush on Yuna never becomes a reality. Buddy, who is the co-pilot, it the total opposite of his friend Brother. However, Buddy isn't really involved as the other characters in Final Fantasy.

Shinra, the genius Al-Bhed kid, is a great help in teaching you the basics of battle, and progressing in the storyline.

There are many ending to Final Fantasy X-2 due to its coherent- to the storyline- game play!

Overall, I would definitely recommend this game. With the help of a Guide book!

1 out of 5 stars The Worst Game Ever   December 3, 2008

No, I'm not over-reacting. This is literally, the Worst Game EVER. If you really want to delve this far into j-pop and teeny drama then you should probably just stick your head down a toilet and end it now. This game is nothing more than a Japanese version of One Tree Hill. And yes, because this game is the worst game ever, it's also the worst FF ever, FF8 eat your heart out.

5 out of 5 stars X-2 Makes An Amazing Sequel To X   November 22, 2008

I finished FFX about 8 months ago, and as soon as I was done I had to play X-2. FFX was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played, and so far the only, not counting X-2 which I am very close to being done with. Here's what I think of X-2:

The game is great, it has a complicated, amazing plot, but for me, after X the battle system confused me. It's not bad, I just prefer X's battle system. However, after a little while I got used to it, and started to enjoy it. The dresspheres allow you to decide what abilities you want Yuna, Rikku and Paine to have, and the great part is-- the girls share the dresspheres, allowing you to decide who you want to do what. Also, the girls have special dresspehres which are very powerful which only they can use-- Yuna's dressphere is only accessible by Yuna, etc.

The story is the best part of this game. Although Tidus isn't actually in the game, he is mentioned many times, and sometimes Yuna will to talk to him in her thoughts, reminiscing about various memories she shared with Tidus, or telling him things in her life currently. There are many moments where I found myself sobbing, because it was so sad and seemed so real. Although I haven't finished the game, I know the various endings and they are all amazing, but I can't give that away...

For X-2 you follow Mission's, requiring you to do a certain thing. You can find movie spheres all over Spira, which show clips of various things that happened. You can even view the sphere that led to Yuna's decision to be a sphere hunter..

One of the best parts of the game is the fact that YOU control the story. Sure, there's a basic story that you follow, but there are also different paths you can take. The New Game Plus allows you to play the game over again, your characters levels going back to how they started, but you can keep all your items, gil, speheres, and what's even better-- your completion points. In order to obtain the 'Perfect Ending' you must get a 100% completion. Which means when you have an option to do a mini-game or not, do it. There are three endings I believe, based on what you do in the game and what you choose at the end of the game. Getting 100% completion might be difficult without the official Strategy Guide, so if you really want 100% completion, it might be wise to be the book.

If you loved Final Fantasy X, this is the perfect sequel to finish up Yuna's story. Although make sure you've played X before you play X-2-- X-2 is a sequel, continuing X's story. If you haven't played X it will be very confusing.
