Amazon.com Review When Rare made GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, they created the best first-person shoot-'em-up the world had ever seen and, arguably, has ever seen to this day. Many of the geniuses behind the game left Rare shortly after to set up their own company, Free Radical. Their first game was the rather rushed (in time for the PS2's launch) TimeSplitters, but this sequel is polished to perfection and easily one of the best games of the year. One of the main problems with the original TimeSplitters was its awful single-player mode, but this has been totally revamped for the sequel, with a proper story mode, all-new time zones and weapons, and absolutely mountains of unlockable hidden extras. Thankfully they've kept the wicked sense of humor from the first game, but there's also a lot more strategy for solo players this time around, including an amusing homage to GoldenEye's Arkangelsk Dam level, along with pastiches of other games and films scattered throughout the game. The real reason for TimeSplitters 2's greatness, though, is the multiplayer mode. This is GoldenEye to the nth degree, with superbly designed levels, tons of weapons, and all sorts of tricks and gimmicks, such as remote-control gun turrets and invisibility pills. It may lack the epic scope of Halo, but in multiplayer mode at least this is a lot more fun--and fun, as the Beatles never said, is all you need. --David Jenkins, Amazon.co.uk
Amazon.com Product Description The evil race of TimeSplitters are traveling back in time, authoring events that are leading to the enslavement of mankind. Controlling a motley crew of renegade characters, you must hunt down the TimeSplitters across environments such as the gangster-filled 1920s, the lush jungles of Aztec temples, Soviet military installations of the cold war, and futuristic robot factories in space. The game delivers an involved single-player and cooperative story mode, with a complex narrative, multiple objective-based episodes, and animated cutscenes. The game engine has been extensively upgraded to accommodate bigger environments and special graphical effects. The MapMaker has also been enhanced, opening up even more potential to the advanced gamer looking for customizable game scenarios.
Product Description TimeSplitters 2 brings you new and improved action that's more furious than before! Furious 2 - 4 split-screen multiplayer action for even more explosive fun!

Best FPS ever! November 27, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the greatest first-person shooter ever followed closely by Timesplitters 1. The multyplayer is fantastic with no mess-ups. The story improved very much. The game allows you to choose tons of characters, weapons, game modes, and levels. You can also play with 3 friends in 4-player multiplayer. You can also add 10 computer players.
A must for PS2 owners, but for multiplayer October 30, 2007 G. Murphy (Rhode Island) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is probably the best game I ever owned on PS2 and Im writing about it 4 years after I first owned it, thats how good it is. Although people are right, its meant to be played with friends. If you have 2-4 people this game is unbelievable, yeah you can play solo and its still fun but what takes this game to the next level is its multiplayer fun. You will literally spend hours playing this game with your friends in one sitting. Buy now its so cheap!
Not so good these days, go for Future Perfect instead September 24, 2007 Some Guy (Redwood City, California United States) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
There are some points I'd like to make clear before I go any further. One, it's now 2007 so it's been a while since this was released. Two, I only tried single-player story mode before stopping (more later). Three, I LOVED TS: Future Perfect.
I definitely seem to be in a different corner from other reviewers. Generally people love this game. After 3 levels of single-player mode, I realized it was pi**ing me off more than providing fun.
Looks aren't a problem. Unless your a graphics fetishist there's nothing to complain about how it looks, even today. Not too blocky, nice environments, smooth framerate.
The problem for me arises in the actual gameplay. First, I hate aiming with my thumb, and prefer a fixed site that moves with you until you choose a zoom sight for, say, a rifle. This sight is hard to zero in with and almost impossible to use on a moving target. Choose not to use aiming mode and who knows where your shots will land? If you're happy thumbing it, then it won't be a problem for you.
But over and over I found the missions (played on medium difficulty) to be obnoxious. The save system sucks big time, and you too often find yourself playing an entire level over and over again if you mess up. There are checkpoints here and there, but you lose them if you have to quit. I don't always want, or have the time, to play through an entire level. Granted, they aren't horribly long, but I'm the type of player who likes to take his time and look around. If you're the blow-through-as-fast-as-I-can type, it might not be a problem for you. I just put it away in frustration after getting tired of failing several times for no apparent reason on the 3rd mission (the "rescue the girls from zombies" one).
That's about the gist of it for me. With other reviews being so glowing it may be that I just don't "fit" the game. Or, maybe, having played Future Perfect first ruined it for me. Still, that doesn't remove the frustration factor from this one. Sad, that, since, as I said at the beginning, I absolutely love love LOVE Future Perfect. That game really has it all! If you haven't played either this or Future Perfect, I strongly recommend FP but you might want to rent this one (if you can find it) or buy it very cheap.
An Honest Review June 19, 2006 Barry Robinson (Colombus) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have to say I was a bit hesitate to write a review for this game at the risk of sounding incredibly redundant. Just about every review on here will lead you to believe TimeSplitters 2 is one heck of a game. I just felt compelled to throw in my two cents and entirly agree with the 5 star reviews.
TimeSplitters 2, although aging is still a wonderful first person shooter. Devoloped by the same team that brought us GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, TS2 is everything a first person shooter should be, and then some. The game may just take you by suprise offering uncountable extras and numerous ways to play. I believe that if you've been searching long and hard for a outstanding shooter, you've come to the end of your search. This game is truly one of the best games money can but, 4 years old or not.
Thanks for reading.

definetly one of the best if not the best ps2 games i own. the graphiks are smooth, (the best way i kan deskribe them) tons of charakters to get, so u definetly wont get bored playing alone, but multiplayer mode is where this game is really, really fun. i have very few problems with this game, the fakt that there isnt ne blood takes away slightly from the satisfaktion in a kill sometimes, but that kould be just me... neway i must say i am very satisfied with this game!
