4 out of 5 stars Harvest-moon-like fishing with a reeling twist   November 28, 2008
matureballerina.com (Canada)
After 40 tries trying to figure out how to reel a fish in (admittedly, no fisherwoman, here lol) I was pleased to say I finally caught something, and after that rarely lost a catch.

My kids razzed me for buying it (i researched and bought it for them, ingrates!) but, now, as I knew they would be, they are loving it. And I'm pleased.

The fun part is trying to cast by the fish you want to hook and going nuts when you can't get him...lol. You can buy bait, rods, you do tournaments. If the reeling drives you nuts at the start, just reel to keep the fish icon in the middle on the top of your screen and snap the remote just once, hard, in the direction of the arrows when they appear. The best tip if you're having problems reeling is: as soon as the fish is hooked, start reeling immediately, don't even wait for the screen to tell you! otherwise it slips right away in a second, and that's what happened to me.. 40x later.. i figured it out! If you reel too long with your nunchuk the line busts and if you don't real enough he slips off. Really feels like one's fighting on the line, too! Fun stuff, good buy.

4 out of 5 stars Fantastic Family Night Title!   November 18, 2008
Susan Boggs (North Carolina)
We bought this game on a whim out of a gold box deal having no idea what we were getting. I figured if we got a few hours of play out of it, then it wasn't money completely wasted. Turns out, we have got more than a few hours out of it!

We love it. It's one of our family night choices. We play it until we get wii-bow (like tennis elbow, but from wii) from jerking the line to keep from losing the big fish. We haven't even gone on too many quests to find the mythical fishes because we are having too much fun competing with each other! I also like that you have to earn money to buy rods and bait which really helps my daughter understand that sometimes, you have to work for things you want. It's complex enough keeping up with what fish likes what bait and which fish lives where that they adults stay plugged in and its fun enough that the kids want to keep on trying and are not missing out because they cant keep up with the specifics.

I gave it four stars because the game isn't what I would consider beautiful. The graphics leave a bit to be desired and the fishing spots you can get to by walking are a bit limited.

In the end, I think you should buy it!

5 out of 5 stars Great Fun!   August 27, 2008
Debbie H (Lafayette, CO)
My husband and I are enjoying this game so much that we're keeping it instead of giving it to the grand children! (We'll buy another) I just wish my husband would quit winning all the time!

2 out of 5 stars very disappointing   July 16, 2008

I am very disappointed in this game and am looking for a better one the whole family can enjoy. The graphics are antiquated and there is much to read and do before getting started. The grandfather's head just keeps "talking" at you and giving much direction. It is impossible for my younger children to play on their own. My husband is fine with it, but it is not enjoyable for the kids.
