Awesome January 6, 2009 M. Davis Yes this product is worthwhile. I got it with the XBL/PGR 4 package. Because of the chat pad it'll no longer take 10 mins to typing messages, redemption codes, etc. the buttons are a lil' harder than a typical keyboard and that's a good thing, because you won't have to worry about accidentally pressing a button. also, they light up which is cool. it adds a lil' bit of weight to the controller but i leave mine attached to my controller because it doesn't bother me when i play games.
Great for text January 2, 2009 Kyle Cunningham (Maine, USA) I bought this because I hate how slow the xbox dashboard types text. This completely alleviates the lag and frustration when sending someone a message or typing in your name. It's small and light too so you dont really notice it that much on the controller. For the price, why not?
Quick and easy! December 27, 2008 Jill Gould (California, USA) Everyone should get this device because it makes chatting and texting on the xbox so much easier. The seller was great, listed as I bought it.
Very useful, but not game-breaking. December 23, 2008 Brixton (Albuquerque, NM) The messaging pad's a huge upgrade from manually selecting letters from a console. It's also great because when you snap it into your controller it doesn't alter the way you hold it or really take up any amount of space.
The down-side is that if you're used to blazing through text on a keyboard, you're not going to be able to touch-type. So if you plan on playing with the lights off you're probably going to be a little frustrated when you send messages.
When you get used to it your accuracy can go up (especially if you use a phone with a qwerty keyboard) but for the rest of us it can make it kind of clunky and situational. Still an overall upgrade, but not as awesome as I thought it'd be.
