4 out of 5 stars Asteroids on Speed   October 4, 2008

Fun game, frenetic pace... not much replay value, though. Kinda gets tired, like the person playing.

5 out of 5 stars Contemporary classic 9.5 / 10   August 26, 2008
David A. Johnson (Fairfax, VA)
This game is like Galaga meets Asteroids.

For anyone who enjoys the classics this is a must have. The overall concept is simply an arcade classic space shooter.
Advancement is purely how many geoms you collect, which can be earned by shooting them and achieving high scores.
Despite it's simplicity the programming of this game is fairly deep. The intracacies of the design can not only be found in the cool visual effects of the background and sprites but also its strongest performance is in AI. The enemies all have different behaviours as well as your "drone" wich you can unlock up to 8 different behaviours for it as well. This is not a cheap knock-off game. This is one for the ages.

5 out of 5 stars Galaxies for Wii is the best - accept no alternatives   August 18, 2008

Geometry Wars: Galaxies for the Nintendo Wii is like digital crack - it is like asteroids to the third power. I can't imagine playing this game on any other system or with any other control scheme than the Wiimote. The Wiimote forces you to use your entire body and dance around the room. While playing this amazing assault on your senses, the key to winning is zoning out and letting deeper, reflexive parts of your brain take over. If you think too much - you're dead!

5 out of 5 stars Fun and Addicting   May 31, 2008

Lots of people already wrote what I wanted to say, so I will just re-emphasize them: this game is totally fun, colorful, challenging and addicting! Lots of new levels and different kinds of enemies. The drone assistance gives the game an extra kick. It's especially fun when you do multi-player mode.

5 out of 5 stars Quick and painless   February 4, 2008

This game is quick to pick up and painless to put down. It is a great time-killer and has addictive qualities that make you want to keep playing it. Unlike a lot of games that require you to review the last two hours that you played and also require a substantial time contribution just to make some progress, this allows a person to pick it up, have some fun and put it back down. That being said you'll likely want to keep picking it up again and again because it is genuinely a nice distraction from anyone that has to think for a living. No thinking, just acting, and that is a great thing. If you want something complex and engrossing, sorry keep looking, but if you are just looking for a good time with no strings attached, this is your thing.
